“2011/12 Season” 30/01/12
U11 League: Old Hartsdonian continued their remorseless march towards the title with a ruthless demolition of Margate B. Margate’s bowlers were helpless prevent Old Harts running up a massive score, but did themselves no favours by conceding 75 runs in extras. Jordan Cox (41*), Isaac Dilkes (29*) and Tiree Daly (27*) all took full advantage as old Harts raced to 184-2. The shell-shocked Margate batters were then swept aside for only 16, With Isaac Dilkes picking up 2-3. Old Hartsdonian won by 168 runs.
Lewis Thornby (28*) and Toby Douglas (28*) both scored freely to ensure that Sandwich made a good start in their game against Broadstairs B. Ed Laslett then weighed in with 20* as Sandwich cruised to 119-0. Thornby then destroyed the top order, as he finished with 2-11. Tom Walton fought hard for Broadstairs, with a personal best of 11, but Ben Mitchell wrapped things up by taking 2-7 in his three overs as Broadstairs were restricted to 58-5. Sandwich won by 61 runs.
U13 League: Nelson were always struggling with the bat in their game against Old Hartsdonian and it was only thanks to a battling knock of 23 that they were able to reach 75-5. Jordan Cox was the main wicket taker with 2-22. When both openers went cheaply, it looked as though this score could just be enough. However, Isaac Dilkes batted with great maturity to score 27* and ensure that his team reached its target with 9 balls to spare. Old Hartsdonian won by 4 wickets.
League leaders Broadstairs A had to overcome the loss of an early wicket in the game against Sandwich. Fortunately for them, Elliot Fox (27*) and Guneet Singh were on hand to avert any possibility of a crisis. Daniel McGill then added 28* as Broadstairs posted a score of 112-3. Fox (1-9) and Singh (2-18) then made early inroads into the Sandwich batting. Although George Laslett battled hard for 32, only Matthew Green (13) was able to offer any support as they were bowled out for 71. Broadstairs A won by 41 runs.
Nathan Hogben (2-18) made a double breakthrough for Nelson against Broadstairs B and it looked, when Chloe Morphy picked up 2-17, as though they would run through the rest of the batting. However, Harry Benwell picked this game to score a season’s best of 35 to lift his team to 72 all out. Lewis Bedford then came out and scored a rapid 28* and with Nathan Hogben making 18*, Nelson coasted to victory with 5 overs to spare. Nelson won by 6 wickets.
U15 League: Old Hartsdonian struggled to make much impact with the bat against some good Bowling from the Broadstairs’ attack. Jordan Cox (22*) and Jack Wheeler (14) scored steadily, but Old Harts had to be content with a final score of 86-2. The loss of an early wicket did nothing to stem the flow of runs when Broadstairs batted as Alfie Huntley (27*) and Callum Morgan (26*) carried the attack to Old Harts. Thanks to their efforts, Broadstairs cruised to victory with 4 overs to spare. Broadstairs A won by 4 wickets.
